General Lecture Department of Agrotechnology
Dear students, lecturers, and researchers,
Date palms, famous worldwide and the main fruit crop from the Middle East and North Africa, contain bioactive compounds and dietary fibre that benefit human health. With these ingredients, date palm has the potential to be an eco-efficient, sustainable, and economical source of nutrients and energy in our diet, as well as a promising source of functional food ingredients. However, date palm cultivation is challenged by many biotic and abiotic stresses. Among these factors, biotic stresses, i.e., pests, are the major threat to date to palm trees throughout the world.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) can be carried out using biological agents to anticipate this threat. One such agent is microorganisms.
To gain in-depth knowledge regarding this matter, the Department of Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman will hold a General Lecture with the topic Date palms and their important pests, the application of microbial biological agents, and the current approach to insect borer detection on:
